Our Story + Founder
Owner and Professional Trainer Miles has worked in the K9 & dog training industry for nearly 20 years with all breeds & training styles in Sport, Personal Protection, Assistance/ Service, & Working Dog Training. He has spent nearly 2 decades studying techniques under mentors & industry professionals, attended seminars nationwide & acquired various certifications over the course of his career. With a bold move into helping pets and owners live a higher quality of life; he founded The K9 Kamp with a singular mission to return dogs to a natural, calm, balanced state of mind. Using a science backed training approach of attention - reward based balanced obedience. Trained dogs are happier, more confident, and balanced. Living peaceful, fuller, and more enriching lives within their human family pack.
Our Training Philosophy
Every dog is different and we take that into account with all of our training clients. We aren't a one size fits all training company; however most programs follow 3 science backed stages to success within operant conditioning- how dogs learn.
1) Marker Training - food & reward to teach, shape, and lure desired behaviors in positive reinforcement.
2) Leash Guidance- learning to follow the direction of the leash to steer and guide into obedience.
3) Proofing- making sure our dog can still accomplish all of their trained behaviors in the presence of distraction, other dogs, new environments, etc.
We limit our training "Kamps" to a reasonable number of dogs at a given time, typically 3-4 max. Reach out to ensure scheduling availability.
